Just had my renewal letters through from Tesco for my dog whih has gone from £17.05 to £25.04 and my 2 cats from £12.02 to £17.97. These huge increases seem to happen every year and I end up shopping around and moving.

We did make a claim for the dog this year where he was diagnosed with a back condition so I'm just concerned if I move again, the new insurance company won't cover his back (we always have advanced policy to cover for life) so I think I'm stuck with Tesco as it's pre-existing??

I think my mother has this problem when she had our cat insured with a supermarket. I've got one horse and the dog insured with NFU, and the premiums drop rather than rise. Plus, I think next year they are doing a massive discount

I insure my dog with petplan and her premiums are now more than the horses. Fair enough she is a rottie and now getting "old" well 7yrs do you count that as old ?
I also have to pay %age of the bill as well as the excess. But they will cover her into her dotage and they have paid her vet bills this year without a quibble. But I was still shocked at the yearly premium of £550 !

I had a similar thread on here a month or two back. My premium with Tesco for 4 year old and 1 year old GWPs went from £25 to £50 (can't remember exactly but I know it was nearly double). We hadn't had a claim in that year so I moved to more than for ~£28. As you say problem is now ANYTHING they have seen a vet for in the past is automatically excluded, seems to be the same with all insurance, my horse insurance with NFU says that on the policy now.

Just been on the phone to NFU for the cats and it's £10 per month for the both of them...I've taken them up on that one!

They wouldn't cover my dog on the advanced policy though as we've claimed twice in the past year....looks as though I may be stuck with Tesco

im dreading to think how much my insurance will go up to..atm i pay £18 for my now 8yo and £11 for my 4yo...both whippets
i also cant really go anywhere else for my older bitch as shes had a spinal injury and ive lost how many times ive claimed...certainly had my money worth, and i still claim every few months for her pills
im with halifax...been great so far, always paid up, ive never claimed for my younger bitch

the trouble with NFU , whenever ive called in the past i could never get to talk to someone...they say that they'l get someone to phone back but never did
