either, lots of people got put off the petal boots because of the noise they make. i prefer the strong short neoprene/fabric overreach boots with no-turn knob at the back, fwiw.
I would recommend the woof wear club overreach boots.. There tough and have an anti spin knob that goes in the heel! However they are expensive so rubber.. petals make to much noise!!
I think I used petals when I was about 10 and used to buy them in different colours and put them together so I had multicoloured ones.................so definitely overreach boots and I now (in my older age) find the Woof ones very good or most of the neoprene ones.
The sound of them does get a bit annoying after a while, I have used them once for xc schooling because I found them a bit more secure as they fasten with a buckle instead of velcro. Toto was quite funny, as we were trotting around he kept stretching his head down low to look at his feet
I might buy him some of the Woof Wear overreach boots then, most of the boots he has are WW as they fit him very well
