My daughter has just been asked if she'd like to ride in the Under 21 Team (she's 20!) for our local hunt. Anyone out there taken part in this event or know anything about it? Love to hear from you!

I have spectated at this event and it is very similar to other inter-hunt relays. By some spell casting and divination of the stars they come up with a draw. Teams consist of 4 people dressed as for a days hunting. The first two teams then ride off over identical courses of rustic fences, once the first rider has completed and handed over a hunting whip to the number two the second rider can start. The winner is the fastest team to complete. It then proceeds as a knock out competition, until you get to the finals. I think prizes go to 3rd or 4th and for the juniors I remember reading were equestrian kit. There are also rosettes and prizes for the best turned out team.

It all gets very exciting, with spectators from their respective hunts cheering their sides on.

Herne will probably be able to tell you more details.

I did it about 3 years ago - its not very big and its great fun. There are 2 courses - you start in the middle and one goes left and one goes right - working hunter fences and some bending poles as well. Def. worth doing!!
