Sorry to come on here to clear my chest. But seriously i thought petplans were to give the "little people" a chance.

Ive come home shattered. Wondering why I bothered.

My horse was perfect, felt great and i was pleased but scores and comments said majorly otherwise :( we travelled 2hrs to get there, furthest we gone, new venue and he was great. Im chuffed with him. Just gutted.

Ive got to call BD monday too as the tack checker made me remove my roller spurs before my test and wouldnt let me back to the lorry for my others. I know the rules are changing making rollers illegal but they come in on 1st December. She was so rude.

Sorry rant over. I need a stiff drink! :(

This is the rule on Spurs, were you rollers in the right direction? I.e. Vertical. Have you ever been pulled up on it before?

Spurs may be worn at all levels and are mandatory from advanced level upwards. Excessive use of spurs is forbidden. Spurs may not be worn upside down. Spurs must be a pair (except when riding side saddle) and made of metal, although spurs with a smooth rotating rubber, metal or plastic ball on the shank are permitted.
The band round the heel must be smooth; “comb” spurs are not permitted. Any shank on the back of the heel must point towards the rear and the end must be clearly horizontal to the ground or pointing downwards. Dummy spurs are permitted, as are swan neck spurs subject to the above restriction. There is no restriction on the type of shank and rowels that are permitted provided that they are free to rotate and must be vertical to the ground.. Rowels with points must have rounded ends

These are my spurs http://www.robinsonsequestrian.com/shires-roller-ball-spurs.html

She told me there were illegal and i was to remove them. Wouldnt let me go get my others. When i questioned her she got really rude and her me i could argue with her all i liked. I would be eliminated if i went in wearing them.

Even had a go at me because i wanted to see if my horse would respond without spurs. One simple canter transition thats all i did. But no, my start time had supposedly gone, not by my watch. And that i had to go now.

Im gutted. I ride in them following my knee surgery as i believe they are kinder especially if my leg gets weak

Those look perfectly fine to me. I think all you can do is ring or email BD on Monday to discuss it with them, although all they will be able to do is advise the steward they were wrong (assuming they were ;) ) and give you an apology, they obviously can't change the class results.

For future reference, I would politely ask the steward to point out the particular rule in the rule book to you. It may also be possible to ask the judge for their opinion, although this isn't so easy on a very busy day.

Oh I wish I'd seen you today :( the girl parked next to me got told the same about her spurs and I lent her my rule book to show the steward who agreed she was wrong and they were ok, that must've been after you. We did a poop test, really tense, but tomorrow is another day.... Don't let one competition discourage you x

I was sat watching my friend warm up and the steward who was doing the tack inspections was talking about this! Basically admitting she was in the wrong.
Unfortunately, that is of no help to you now :(

It sounds like the steward was being very difficult! When competing and needing a tack check I would always ask the steward to do it at the start of your warmup, that way if there are any problems you have plenty of time to rectify them :-)

Same spurs as mine. Nothing wrong with them. I would have gone in wearing them and let the judge make the decision as I tend to be very familiar with all rules when I coimpete.

I've got to admit her rudeness caught me on the spot and I panicked, wish I had left them on now. As I was 99% sure I was right. Problem is since the accident I've suffered with side effects from my PCS and due to my tablets I don't like being put in uncomfortable situations :( I've emailed BD to we shall see what they say.

know your rule book...read it cover to cover.

then have the balls to tell people like this, thanks but no thanks, and go in anyway. Go to the head judge(at C) and explain what has been said and show her, then complete your test.

make a written complaint to BD ref the steward and say you would like them to receive additional training.

have the guts to stand up for yourself in the future :)
