Pevadine/Betadine...?

.. or 10% iodine solution.

Where can I get one of these? Have been to 5 chemists today with no luck.

Horse has a deep infection in the frog and needs packing with gauze soaked in one of the above. He's on box rest till its cleared up so need to get it as quick as poss because he's a weaving nutbag and a total nightmare to keep in!

A farm suppliers such as Countrywide will stock whichever you want.
Could you not use Hydrogen Peroxide, which you can get from a chemist. Or maybe an Iodine based purple spray.

yes, vet said she had ran out and just to get it from the chemists

It's Povidone iodine LOL!!

Often used for horses with strangles as it kills the bacteria on contact, also useful for killing bacteria on anything the horse may have come into contact with.

lol thanks Tia, my vet actually wrote them down and spelt it pevadine... I did wonder why all my searches were bringing up povidone, I just assumed one was a proper version and the other a cheaper imitation or something!

Hyperdrug has Betadine. Run search for it on internet.....
