I’ve been dreading weighing Bear. He was definitely too heavy before Christmas, puppies were getting 3 meals (still are) so he’d have a teeny treat. The OH jumped on the scales with him today and he’s just over 26kg, which for a very tall oversized springer is about bang on and what the vet was happy with last time he was weighed there. I can feel ribs (can’t see them, he is very floofy). I’m so relieved. I want him in the best possible shape given he’s almost 12. I’m biased, I think he’s lush!

Aah, you lot are lovely! We’ve tried very hard to ensure he’s not sidelined like Brig was when Bear was a puppy. Brig was, like Bear, a very easy dog. ?

He gets his own walks and big dog time cos he’s allowed upstairs and they aren’t. He’s stopped taking himself up, but gets cuddles if the OH is at work til the early hours. I can’t wait to take him swimming and introduce the youngsters to the water.

Omg, this is my fear! I was planning on taking them to a shallowgetsdeeper bit and hopefully they’ll follow Bear’s example, although we have to ensure he pees first. Once, jumping off a bank, he had such a full bladder he put a teeny hole in it! He’s notorious for holding it, the running joke is ‘Oh, you don’t want to go in the garden, you had a wee last week!’

There’s also a stretch with a sort of dam so if they do get caught in the super slow current, they’ll be stopped by the dam. However, they aren’t going anywhere with potential for dicking off until Goose’s recall improves. There’s good hacking round there so lots of open countryside. They haven’t met horses yet, they were babes in arms last time they went to the yard and the shallow bit is a ford for a hack.
