I'm very unsure what to do so seeking advice.
My tb has poor feet, and is usually shod by one of 3 very good farriers in a larger company. They usually trim her front feet quite short...couldn't honestly tell you why.
I've been away on holiday for the last 3 weeks, during which time my sister was caring for tb and she was also shod. Should have been simple.
but I've returned home to find that it's not been so simple. Tb gets done along with another few horses on the yard. Farrier phoned one owner and explained they could not be out on Tuesday as usual and would need to leave it until Friday. Where I'd have accepted this in order to get normal farrier, this owner argued as she was concerned her horses shoes would not hold that long.
So on Wednesday horses were all shod, and it appears to have been done by different farrier within company. And I've come back and I do not like the look of tb's feet, especially the front. They look long, like they do when she's due to be done and she's got another 3 weeks still until she's due again. It's also giving the illusion that she has long pasterns, which is a concern since I show her. Initial reaction was phone farrier and get sorted.
but she struggles to hold her shoes as it is, and I'd rather she look like she has long pasterns than weaken the foot more with new nail holes unnecessarily.
Will the longer feet cause any serious damage, or would it be better to leave it?
Thanks guys!
