There are quite a few pictures I want from a photographer but I would rather have them on my computer to put on facebook etc. Is it cheeky to send an email to ask if I could buy a CD of the picutres. I have heard of some photographers that do this, but when you buy the CD can you use the pictures as you see fit? If I ask of course.
I don't want to 'steal' the pictures in anyway, so I am just asking. Thanks

Depends on what this photographer is like. I asked at an event once and was sternly told "we don't DO digital" and frowned at till I went away....

Had already bought two hard copy versions!!

I would have told him that he needs to move with the times if he wants to keep making money.

Given that the photos are digital already, I would think most photographers would be only too pleased to supply a CD, but do ask permission to post on line, as paying for the photos does not give you copyright, that remains with the photographer.

It is possible to obtain the copright by signing the correct paperwork but it could cost alot of money. I charge £170 but that's for about 100 photos, i would probably charge alot less for just 2 photos.

keanmu- thats just £1.70 a photo then :). I think it will be in region of 10 photos so hopefully won't cost me that much!
NeilM- I would ask first, but having met the photographer, them seem very nice etc, and are friends with my boss so should be fine. Best to ask though, eh!

I know, I should have done. I was a bit too surprised to be honest! especially after reading some of the photographer copyright threads on here with Spidge et al discussing the viability of digital options.

Didn't think it was that unusual a question to ask - especially since their website is so techy!
