Does anyone have any names/numbers of equine show photographers I can contact around the Newmarket/Anglia area? We've just been let down by the photographer we had booked for our show at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket on 22nd August. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I do have a few numbers but they're naturally booked up. Thanks.

Richard Weller Pooley - I think lives near Boxstead.

Can't think of any more at the moment.
Hope this helps

Thanks, there are a couple of names there I've not tried so will google them and send a message - thanks.

Erm... I wasn't joking.

I live in Shetland. I am an Event Photographer. I am going to be in South of England in August.

Flight changes costs £30 and travel for a day's hire car is not exorbitant.

I would be happy to help.

Thanks for your response.

Tis appreciated. Makes it so worth the offer.

'twas a tad rude to you frances my sympathy

Sorry if I upset anyone thinking you were joking about paying for your flight change, etc. but do show organisers actually pay you (or any photographer) to actually take the photos at shows? We have been holding shows for over 20 years and have never ever paid a photographer - they in fact pay the show organisers for the opportunity to give them a days work and make their earnings from selling the photos. The same applies to any caterers you get at shows - they pay you for the opportunity of attending the show and earning money.

If you phone a photographer up to ask if they are free to attend your show that day, they will usually tell you immediately what their terms are, i.e. a donation to your chosen charity, a cheque to spend however you want, prizes of free photos in some classes, etc.

From the list of names given for me to contact, I can assure you that those I have contacted work as I have said above - i.e. the show does not pay the photographers for their attendance.

I don't think I was asking to be paid personally. I was just telling you my itinerary and offering my professional services as you were asking for a "photographer needed for Show"

I live in Shetland. I am a professional photographer. I do Event Photography amongst other things, and I would be south visiting my mother in the Reading area. I was volunteering my services but requesting that my basic costs of changing my flight home, plus a method to get to you, covered.

I even offered you a friend's web address who is very good too.

I am sorry that I seem to have been "lost in translation" - the vagaries of the internet I suppose.

And I'm very sorry if you (and others) thought I was being rude to you, but I obviously read it wrong. Thanks for the offer anyway, but to be honest, we do need someone who is either willing to make a donation to the show, or at this late stage, prepared to perhaps offer a "freebie" photo to a class winner. I'm sure you will understand, that being as we are a charity show, we cannot justify reimbursing someone for the travel arrangements to get to us. Thanks anyway. Hopefully we may be sorted - I'm waiting to hear back from a couple of the names I've been given on the forum and by PM. Thanks to all.
