I need to clip my Dartmoor as just a session in the school now and she's sweating buckets and didn't even want to work the other day as she was so hot poor thing! Just not sure the best clip to do! Was thinking belly and neck off - she's in light work 3-4 times a week either having a lesson with my daughter or lunging or being lead from my horse on a hack.

Please do show me pics of your clipped childrens ponies!

now she’s not a child’s pony by any means, but she’s the right size at least!🤣

something like this seems like it would be good though - i only did her like that as it was her first clip, and if she got fed up i didn’t want her to look ridiculous, but i actually think it looks very smart haha

Sorry no photo, I take off into hindquarters as well in a suitable arc on Shetland who looks very much more comfy with this. No rugging required. I'm sorting clippers this afternoon.

Not a Dartmoor or a child's pony, but he's an Exmoor, so close enough!
Dave has a Chaser clip, enough to keep him cool, but enough on to make the rain run off the top.

This is my son’s Welsh C last autumn - like everyone else this took enough off to keep her comfortable, without needing to rug her until the weather really turned. I not a very good clipper at all, but this was easy, and quick enough that she didn’t get too annoyed!

I‘lol probably do something similar again over the next couple of weeks, as soon as I’ve got time to give her a bath!
