I remember reading a post about this a while back but never got round to replying. My horse suffered from it last year and slightly the year before and has got it again this year. we believe it may be due to the clover and am getting the grass topped tomorrow but obviously nothing is conclusive. I have researched and tried virtually everything out there from savalon (actually very good at removing scabs) to all these magically creams. i know many people recommend some sort of turnout boots but have tried these and unfortunately due to them not being very breathable it doesnt really help.

basically was wondering if anyone had any usefull tips etc and i would be more than willing to share any advice i have as well

thanks

im in exactly the same position as you!! my girly gets it really bad on her legs! have sorted the nose problem out with one of those nose protectors from equilibrium and although i use their sun protect chaps they don't tend to stay up very well!! I have found the only option is to bring her in when its hot and to be honest she prefers it anyway being away from the flys. No amount of sun cream will stop her getting it on her legs so its just a total waste of money! to be honest tho its definately to do with the area you are in and the type of grass/buttercups etc because she never used to get it prior to moving home! Would be very interested if anyone has any ideas!!!

definately agree about certain areas and buttercups...unfortunately my horse must have developed it as he got older as he has been in the same field for bout 5 yrs and hasnt had the whole time. The only tips i have got is savalon and baby oil are good for removing the scabs, preventing washing the affected areas, keep in during day and the best barrier kind of cream i have found so fair is one by netex called muddy marvel barrier cream (something like that).
