Basically Im a bit worried about our pony. It all started a forntnight ago when he was asked to do a canter movement in prelim 12, now this is a 12yo that has competed at elem, so this shouldn't have be a challenge for him, however he is a very difficult pony and when asked to do this movement he threw(SP) all his toys out the pram & has ever since been extremely difficult to get left canter; (he will only do it when he has NO contact on his mouth & with me in a light seat.) The other dimension is that since that day, he has been showing signs of stiffness (much more so than is normal,) at first I thought this was because of the sudden temp change etc, but after it has persisted I'm not too sure. I have trotted him up and he is debatably slightly lame when lunged on a tight circle on concrete in trot, which TBH Im not overly concerned about. I decided to give the physio a ring, an idea which was supported by my instructor; I rang the rehab centre who said in his opinion, horse would be better visiting an osteo, he said he'd discuss the ponies problems with both the physio & osteo & then get back to me. I'd appreciate any further opinions as Im a bit confused about the whole scenario, I have little experience of osteopaths, but I know I can trust that partic physio; Im also a bit confused as to what on earth could have gone wrong!

Vet first. Could be coming from anywhere from teeth to hocks. you could spend a lot of wasted time and money with various different specialities. Is your vet good about referring you on?
