Physio out...

Vet came out again today, Hal was once again almost sound. He'll be back to nodding lame again tomorrow. But as he was sound, vet couldn't do nerve blocking as they need to be 6/10's lame which he wasn't then. So for now I have to get physio to get his back checked, and if he goes nodding lame at any point, such as if I ride him tomorrow and he is, then I've got to get the vet out that day so they can do nerve blocking, then x-rays if they have to.

On average how much is a first visit from a physio?

Really sorry to hear about Hal. my normal physio charges £55 per horse but unfortunately as hes too busy to come out to see me ive got a new one coming to my yard, and she charges £45 per horse. They also might charge a travelling fee if they have to come to your yard.

That's not too bad I guess. I just hope he's sorted in one session and we don't have to move onto nerve blockings. If we do, chances are his owner can't afford to keep him for much longer (I have him on full loan, but supposed to be paying for him over next couple of years gradually) so he'll have to be sold to someone else.

if u think it is the bones not the muscles then i would strongly recommend a chiropracter. Jack had one today and he felt 10x better after 10 mins! so was really effective!

go for the physios they are the most reliable i think judging by the amount of peeps using each type of therapy. both physios and chiros move muscle so which ever u go for they are working towards the same thing-good luck with him-at least once the back it sorted that is one thing u can rule out. physios charge roughly £45-£50 i think

my chiro didnt just look at his back either! she gave him a whole MOT and did his legs and all! so worth a look!

yer my physio did that too-i think they have to look at the whole horse really-she looked at him from the poll to the dock and everything inbetween

Vet did say get physio out, not chiro, so will probably get physio. At the mo she recommended the local physio who is the phsyio for britians dressage team, so she must be good! She's at WEG at the mo tho so will have to get one of her team if I go with them.

Spike is also off to physio tomorrow as he is just feeling a little out of sorts at the moment and I suspect he may have a vertebrae out.Which Physio did you use Hattikins as I notice you are also in the Southeast.

Mine (qualified physio) cost £50 that included initial consultation and treatment.

I use a man called Tim Jarman, he's one of those Mctimoney specialists, he's excellent is Tim as he will only do what is needed, if there's nothing to do he will tell you and charge a minimum fee, he's based at Ripon in North Yorkshire, he's around £40-£50 a visit and works in conjunction with your vet, I know he does some high profile customers including one of the members of the Olympic team

don't forget the osteo's!! we treat muscles and bones and ligaments and fascia in fact the whole musculo-skeletal system! some also do visceral!
