I am looking to train as an animal physiotherapist, I have found two courses, one which is run by Nottingham or Harper Uni, the other run at a place near Oxford. The courses have two slightly different names has anybody had any experience of either of these courses? I want to go on the best course that I can but am a bit lost with what the difference is!

Any information good or bad would be greatly appreciated! :-)

Thanks

I was under the impression that you need to be a human physio first and then go on to do further qualifications in animal physio?

I know that the equine physio I use qualified first in human and then in animal, and is a chartered veterinary physio.

Hi,

There are losts of posts on this the main one is on the first page of this vet forum look on there as will tell you a bit more.

I have applied to CEPT the one based at nottingham vet school! I chose this one as it is taught by those who taught the one at RVC and is run my Richard Payne who is a reg vet. Also my lecturer is on this course and is a vet and found it very good for those who have done basic animal degree, rather than human or veterinary.

What qualifications do you have? For these courses you dont have to be a human physio, see other post for more detail but i gather your aware of this if interested in these courses. But you do have to have a degree in animal science/studies or equine science and some hands on experience with animals.

The one at herper looks good and ensures a good support from other physios and the college itself is lovely, but they are a little stuck up if i do say so myself! I went round to have a look and spoke to course manager and just got that impression and am not the only one who felt this! Upon speaking to her they do not take people straight from their degree! which is very strange as is run as a MSc! lol they only take people who are working in the industry, (which i found is very difficult).

The one at oxford is college of animal physiotherapy, which doesnt tell you anything about it! So thats is a little worrying, tbh i prob wouldnt touch that one if i were you, really doesnt sound very good at all, but thats just my opinion.

Also if you email richard payne from CEPT, they will email you a info pack, gives you all the details about it. Open day in april, application closing date is 15th April!

Hope that helps a bit.

XxEmmaxX
