Hi, can anyone recommend a good pick me up supplement for a fit eventer- just lacking a bit of sparkle at the moment. A friend has suggested horse healths B-plus health supplement-has anyone used this?

I really rate Global Herbs Restore as a general pick-me-up.

However there are lots of reasons that a horse can be lacking sparkle; are you already using a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement?

I use Dodson and horrell B-sure for my eventers throughout the competition season as it seems to prevent them picking up anything on their travels etc. It also works really well when the horse is just seeming a little under the weather but nothing has been found or post-viral. The B-vits are important as they are produced when fibre is digensted and when the horse is competing they tend not to be eating the necessary volume of fibre so b-vit levels fall! HTH's

No I don't feed a broad spectrum vit/min' supplement at the momment. The horse is just feed cool mix. Oats or fast release energy mixs have no effect on her!

Yep I highly recommend HH B-plus. I feed it 10 days before a show at a higher level but it can be fed routinely. It smells lovely and my lot eat it no problem.

Hi H'mum, the horse is usually very lazy on the flat and warmup for sj. Once in the ring its a different story, and shes very forwards going. I took her to Spring hill horse trials on Monday, and she was lazier ( then normal!) in the warmup and also extremly stuffey. Once in the sj ring again she did'nt really want to go forward( she jumped fine-but pulled up halfway round). Shes sound and had her back checked- all fine. Shes on quite a strict diet and excercise routine at the mo as shes eventing Nov upto 2* level and is a warmblood x irish draught so lacks any TB speed and struggles with xc times- I dont think i'm pushing her to hard- but its hard to tell as she has always been v.lazy!

What about an iron based supplement like red cell or pro pell? I have put my 'lazy' ISH on red cell and can feel the difference already within the week.

Echo this! Has certainly made a difference to my mare within the week too!
