For those with pick ups, where do you go to get your insurance?

i am looking to get one for towing my trailer but i keep doing quotes and they won't quote me? dont know why? im 30, have 12 yrs no claims? why why why, is it so difficult?

Insurers get the heebie jeebies over pickups, as they are essentially commercial vehicles. I've used Direct Line for mine, and I'm currently with Liverpool Victoria; they both insure for domestic and pleasure use.

Interesting... LV wouldn't quote for ours as was commercial... Will try again this year as they're incredibly reasonable for the run around car and expect I just got a numpty last time! Or is it not commercial, but will insure commercial vehicle as domestic? (not that I got as far as discussing this)

Nfu are good but be very careful if modifying at all. Roll cage added to a friends (checked first to confirm wouldn't affect insurance) whacked it up by over 2k and promptly went elsewhere!

We have two on any driver over 30, they aren't very expensive to insure but they are on our farm fleet insurance so that probably makes a big difference. Thinking about it everyone I know that has a pickup has a business so I'm guessing they are all on commercial insurance.

Try re wording your job.

Admiral were fantastic a few years back on my car. Knocked a fair percentage off by carefully changing my job title. We went through several options which were all essentially the same job. Their insurance ended up over 1k cheaper with job title change, various discounts added and little tweaks.

Also look at which pick up you buy.
A Toyota hilix falls in a lower insurance group than the equivalent navara. (found out the hard way) our insurance almost doubled :(

With direct line, i had to ring up to get best deal tho. For a 26 year old main driver and 23 year old second driver we pay 700 both driving since 17 with no claims. That was on a 09 5 door Navara btw which i thought good considering my insurance on corsa was 500!
