Following on from the racehorse thread that has been running tonight.... where did you get your ex racehorse from. As a cob girl at heart :D , its not a circle I tend to move in so I was curious as to where people had got theirs from :)

My friend was working on a racing yard (a v. v. bad one!!) and Tully was her little favourite so when he failed (like the rest of them) she decided to buy him. She ended up bringing him up to mum and dads yard and he ended up being my dads little favourite too so he bought him off her. :)

Found mine in a riding school, up for sale, not been turned out in 2 years! Went there for a hack, to slowly get back into riding after a 5 year break, left with an exracer!! There was no way I could've lived with myself if I'd have left him there! He was bred at juddmonte out of zafonic, one of h.cecils horses, such a shame how and where they can end up after the start they get!

Mine was advertised as a mature plod, bombproof in traffic blah blah... Exactly what I wanted/needed...

Found a scrawny, infested, scabby beastie who turned out to be a 4yr old, geen, immature TB... His eyes did it for me and I brought him home... *sigh* :)

I could get you half a dozen horses on your doorstep tomorrow morning :)
I have ridden in a few p2p's so a couple of owners have offered me horses as well as people with ex-racers wanting rid of them. At this time of year it seems to be easier to get hold of them... they will of been tried, and people are genrally fed up by this time of year!

Found mine in the local horsey paper although he was advertised as an all-rounder and no mention of being a Tb or ex racer (that goes for over the phone aswell). When we went to see him he was just thrown into the horse walker as they had no stable for him (full of good racers you see ;)) and he had not done anything since being turned away from racing!! Definitely was not expecting an ex racer and he was definitely not a novice ride, nor did he know how to canter on the correct lead never mind jump (which they had told us he could!) Well we bought him anyway and after lots of schooling he turned in a very nice little horse indeed :)
