Anyone got an alternative yummier version to speedi beet?

Currently my TB is out 24/7, ad lib haylage and gets 3 scoops (mini rectangular scoops) of baileys topline conditioning mix and a bit less of the beet. Along with a good glug of soya oil.

I am struggling to get her to eat it(I have recently upped the mix and lessened the beet) - she will eat the mix no problem, but it is as if she gets bored of the speedi beet. I need to feed her something with the same sort of calories as she is losing weight, and I like the slow release energy of beet pulp. Is sugar beet more palatable than speedi beet?

Any other reccomendations?

Rowan Barbary mash? I had a chat to them on their stand at Your Horse Live & they're so lovely. I've recently swapped my ex-racer over to it as he really doesn't care for SB, but he loves the mash. Luckily my local saddlery stocks it.

Our tb is on alpha beet, it was one of the feeds we gave him to put weight on when he was recovering from ulcers and apart from his alpha a molasses free and supplements it's all he is on this year.

It could be the texture. I have had two fussy mares, both don't like the texture of any "sloppy" type feed ie speedi beet, fast fibre, calm and condition.

Instead I have her on alfa A Oil, full fat soya flakes and bog standard local feed merchant mix. She's bloomed on this and no slop in sight!

Mine has purabeet from simple systems. Purely because my friend was doing an order for them and I needed some sugar beet. But actually it smells lovely, it is still unmolassed and is cheaper than speedibeet. I think the processing speedibeet goes through to make it quick soak makes it a bit like cardboard. Equi beet and purabeet are 12hrs, but both smell much nicer.

My mare is exactly the same!! Right down to seeming to get "bored" with certain feeds! Often she will eat something for a few weeks, or even months, then gradually start to lose interest. The first clue is she stops clearing her bucket, and then it gradually gets worse until all she'll do is look disinterestedly at the feed, then heave a sigh and turn away! The best thing I've come up with so far is swapping between two different feeds - if she starts to get bored with one, I change her onto the other, and then back again. It's not ideal though! I'm using Coolstance Copra and Speedibeet (has to be low sugar due to her cushings). Someone has mentioned Fast Fibre which I don't recommend - I think it is fairly bland and my mare got bored with it very quickly. And apple juice didn't work for her either!

Try adding a small ammount of brewers yeast (flat tea spoon) its good for them, value for money and my 3 go mental for it in their feeds, you have never seen buckets so clean.
Just add a small ammount to your current feeds.
Can be purchased online or ebay ect....
Good luck hope you find a solution.

Thanks for all the replies. A lot I hadn't even considered! Will go and have a nosy with the feed merchant this week!
