I am entering our first mini ODE at Pachesham for fun, eeeeek!

There are classes at 50cm, 70cm and 85cm.

Zoom has only actually show-jumping once. She went clear over a 2'3 course. I worked out that 70cm is 2'4 so I think we are going to enter that class (I was originally going to do the smaller one but I think 50cm is a bit too small!

).

We have done oodles of xc schooling and sponsored rides and jumped at that height but haven't ever done an actual course. Does anyone have pics of a 70cm xc course so I know what to expect.

Thanks

Have done an Eventers Challenge there as the hunter trial was cancelled due to wet weather. The mini options are tiny so you made the right choice about going for the next size up. Both the eventers challenge and the hunter trial (I did the 2'4 and would have done the next class but was running so far behind and weather crap that we left) were up to height but nothing really scary and walked the hunter trial course the previous day and again nothing too scary. Just things like tyres, barrels etc etc. The water there was very deep as had had torrential rain for days but was just a walk in and out. Nice solid jumps but quite straight forward. We just did our first ODE at 2'6 and was really nice. The showjumping was well built and there were fillers but not all the way underneath (though my horse doesn't seem to notice fillers). The XC was also a very nice course and we both enjoyed it. If you are schooling at home over 2'6 you should be fine, go for it, you'll love it and good luck!

I have recently been at Trent Valley in Nottinghamshire doing their showcross - I've done the 75cm class and found it lovely. I think some of the xc fences were slightly bigger but my mare loved it - enjoyed the xc more than sj!! Larkin Photography were there and took photos - there is a website. Good luck and enjoy it - trust me when you've finished you'll be disappointed it was over so fast LOL

hi Ro, look in my face book pictures theres a patchetts album the indoor pics are 70cm

Action shots!

I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine if you've been jumping that height happily already. I find a full course in competition much easier than one or two fences schooling because you get into a rythymn and have the adrenaline going!

Good luck!
