This is really the only salvageable picture that my mum took (not sure if she knows how to zoom, lol). The pro ones weren't much cop either.

I was really pleased with my lad - he behaved himself apart from a few shouts to begin with. I was not impressed by the attitude of the judge, and I certainly wont be entering any shows under him again. He commented to me (and I quote) "your boy easily has the best conformation in this class, but he is too professionally turned out for my liking". It wasn't a local show either, and there were RIHS qualifiers taking place, and some very bigs "pros" there, so why pick on me? One horse entered the class right at the end whe we were walking around waiting to be called in, and the judge let him come in, do his show and then placed him second, even though horse and handler were incorrecty dressed! Turned out it was the juge's nephew!

Luckily John Rawding was there, and feeling a little deflated I asked his opinion on my lad (he did see him last year) and he said he is cracking and that he should definately remain entire, so I am really happy about that. I know JR is a straight talker, and tells it as it is, so I was over the moon.

Sounds like he doesn't like to judge professionally either. Presuming it was a class supposed to be judged under BSPA/CHAPS rules then allowing someone into the ring after the initial walk round is not allowed.

I'd have been very miffed too but if it's any consolation, your boy looks great.

sounds typical of the judge placing his nephew 2nd, but i guess thats just the way some judges work in the showring

maybe he see's your guy as a potential threat?

That's the trouble with showing isn't it . . . would put me right off I must say.

Thanks guys. This was run under BSPA rules (apparently) but I just could not be bothered to appeal/moan as I only went to give my boy a trip out before the Suffolk, it was education really, as he hasn't been out since a yearling. I was very happy with him, but he was a bit lazy trotting up (he does this fine at home

)

He is by Mars, out of my own mare Evy (Ayemkay Evin Star).

That's showing for you!!!! What more can I say!! I've had days out that have ended like that, you can usually discover the judge has some link to the winner etc and then you get the good judges who actually judge the horse not the owner/handler!!!!

Oh by the way nice horse!! I'm not particularly a coloured fan but I do love the minimally coloured like your boy! (not up on coloured terminollogy, is he a sabino or something? does he have coloured markings on his body aswell or just the white legs and tail??)
