Just wanted to mention about your browband, I've heard tale of those chain brow bands snapping and hitting the horse in the eye

there was a thread about it a few weeks ago where a horse had been laid up for month with an ulcer in the eye. Don't want to scare you but I would think about changing it if you can, not worth the risk IMO.

Is that a western bit he's ridden in? It looks great, I could do with bigger D rings to aid my steering

I used to happily ride bareback - dont do it anymore - I blame modern jodhs being too slippery - nothing to do with the fact that at my age my balance and courage are not what they used to be!

lol sprout ....my sister would bareback all the time ..where as i would much prefer a saddle ....due to my currage and jods too

In my braver youth I used to canter my pony bare back up from the field quite often when I was bringing her in.

So much fun!

It looks like you are having a great time!

Well done! I ride bareback sometimes to improve my seat but I don't find it fun at all! It bruises places I don't want to mention - maybe my horses are just boney?!
