ok, if it looks kind of like a belly botton as in the patern on it then id say it was a Sarcoid, their no big deal not really but dont let flies on it and be carfull not to catch it and once it really starts to stick out from the skin, call your vet and hell remove it for you

I am waiting for the vet to phone me,as they require payment on treatment (stupid I know),I am going to ask if he can bill me. I want my horse seen by the vet as Im worried about the lump.

Ive actually found a vet that sends you abil wooohooo!!! So will be making appointment for my baby (horse) to be seen this week!! With call out and examination its only 64.93 where as the other vwets it was nearer 90.00 big difference.
.

looks like a sarcoid too to me.
Not necesarrily dear to treat, depends on the type.
the warty types are often removed with a lamb ring placed over it so it cuts of the blood supply and falls off.

It doesn't look like a sarcoid to me. Looks more like a fluid filled cyst of some sort. Could be a reaction to a fly bite or a tiny bit of foreign body such as a bramble thorn or splinter. I certainly wouldn't prod it, massage it or lance it. I'd leave it to the vet to poke and prod. Doesn't look worrying at all to me. Do let us know how it goes x.

Re vets cost for treating sarcoids. Mines running at over a grand at the mo. Vet has been out about a dozen times and my horse has had 2 cycles of treatment of 4-5 applications of Liverpool Cream plus the initial visit and follow up visits. It's not the cream that costs too much but the visits/sedation.
Not sure what I'd have done if I wasn't covered by insurance as she's still got the black scabs and isn't sarcoid clear yet (if that ever happens). Cost was bumped up as during second cycle of treatment my mare had to be sedated for each application as she'd learnt that the cream caused pain and was having none of it!
Hope the lump isn't a sarcoid but from experience get the vet to check it asap as we started with one and now have a dozen or so.

I have been talking to my original vets, and a girl who works there, reffered me to another vet in Camarthen. They are so nice, they even told me to send photos in to them to show the vet.Apparently E&L are NOT good to be with, but she did tell me to stay with them for the time being.
I hope its not a Sarcoid.Because this vet is mainly horses they offer different types of treatment for Sarcoids,ie elastic band thingy.
They will bill me they said.Fair enough,so I registed my cob and section A with them.

Looks like a sarcoid to me and typical place for it .I have seen some posts that swear by an application of a certain toothpaste but I cant remember the name of it I used melanix a herbal supplement for a month and the sarcoid dropped off 4 yrs ago never to return

Sarcoids are skin cancers hun but before you panic, they don't usually spread. But messing about with them and/or not treating them ewith the greatest of respect can cause them to be much more aggressive. You need a proper diagnosis before you start thinking sarcoid.

Been told Sacroids are not dangerous!!

Sarcoids can be VERY dangerous because one often leads to another, and another, and another! They can get SO bad that PTS is only option. (I own a horse that WAS in that category before I bought him - he should have been PTS on welfare grounds but insurers wouldn't authorise it - so he was treated with an experimental treatment by the great Sarcoid God, Professor Derek Knottenbelt at Liverpool Uni. Fortunately it worked and he is now sarcoid free!

Look at some of the cases on DK's site - sarcoids are NOT trivial! http://www.liv.ac.uk/sarcoids/appearance/index.htm

tis a big difference. do let us know what vet says, it might be a sarcoid or could just be like a sweat reaction as between the legs there gets wet and doesn't dry very well. beacon used to get a hard scaley rash there but it never caused any problems

Vet coming tomorrow morning. A local vet told me sarcoids are not dangerous?????? Ive checked him all over and theres no other lumps around. Hopefully its a one off whatever it is.
Its quite small at the moment.
Unfortunatly I'm with E&L insurance!!!

It looks like a sarcoid to me.
I would take some much better pics of it because if it is what usually happens is your vet will send them to Liverpool Veterinary Field Centre for Derek Knottenbelt to advise treatment.
They are overwhelmed with requests at present (a livery has a horse with one, that's how I know that) and it's taking a while to get replies.
If it isn't a sarcoid it looks like a scaley fungal type rash, and your vet will soon sort it out.
