This is my girl Poppet (Pops!).

To me, she’s a skewbald, but having read previous colour threads on here, I know there’s a bit more to it. Anyone got any ideas?

The mask on her nose is to stop the sunburn, in case anyone wonders. Also I know she looks a bit plump but it’s gas, there are still ribs to be felt! She isn’t standing very nicely but figured it didn’t matter for a colour thread!

I popped off for a google when I read FP's post and the paw print/ink spot marks apparently may suggest this.

Sire was coloured/PB Welsh (Dycott Denzell) and mum was at least part thoroughbred as her sire was Now Then Minizen.

I guess that means if she was to have a foal, the foal would be coloured no matter what colour the sire was? Interesting. I have no intention of having foals but it's fascinating!

ETS I've just done a further google and it turns out her breeder is Charlotte Dujardin's sister!

I can't find any Faracat, I think they are all on my old (broken) phone. She was much darker in winter though, almost black. She's now a chocolatey colour, if that's any help. I'd probably lean more towards brown than bay, it's almost too flat a colour to be bay, based on the normally coloured bays I've seen.

Here's another pic in case it helps at all - apparently the internet tells me that the white hairs edging the dark patches are 'ghost' or 'halo' lines. Makes her sound very dashing!

We had a very similar one to her, and he was registered tobiano. He was out of the Queens horse ( stallion) I think he was called Mars.

I've heard it called 'mapping' too.

RE bay/brown, does he have a brown muzzle in the winter?
