I think that saddle would look a whole lot better if it were shifted back several inches!:)

Saddle fitters are quite happy to come out and fit small ponies as well as larger horses, IME.

While we're at it, you need a check on your daughter's footwear and the size of the stirrup. Stirrups look very large and boot appears to have no heel, this can be a bad combination.
 
Hard to see from that pic, but it looks more like the saddle is too far forwards on the pony's shoulder than being too small; possibly trying a crupper might help. Your local saddle fitter should be able to advise and see what is actually going on with the saddle.

Does the saddle slip forward like that, or do you think if it were put on further back it might stay put??

How much wither clearance is there in front, and does the back of the saddle sit flat, and not move about??

It does slip forward, so this may be the problem. Thats good as its easily fixed!

Yes, oops her boots are her wellies as, although she rides a couple of times a week, have not got her proper boots. And even worse they are my old stirrups!! Will go and get new boots and stirrups.
 
i second it being to far forwards it looks to be restricing shoudler movement :) But again it might be a good idea if you think it's not correct to get a saddler out :)

Second the riding in flat wellies aswell :o sorry have seen someone dragged round behind their horse due to foot slipping through stirrups during a spook :o

I am in rural France and they don't seem to believe in saddle fitters!! I will definately get a crupper (hope thats the right word!!)

She has riding lessons once a week and the instructor / YO has said they are suitable footwear. Its just another cross against her and another reason to change riding schools. I will go and get some boots tomorrow.
 
See if you can get some smaller stirrups as well:)

btw, when you first try the crupper do it on the lunge not with a child on board:D
 
Possibly a sticky gel pad under the saddle might stop it moving forward????

If you need smaller stirrups, why don't you get some safety ones - the peacock ones or the bent leg.... I've just got some peacock ones for my wee man...
