So Indie has been with us nearly a year and we have achieved so much that it seems she only arrived yesterday. It wasn't until flicking through my photos that I have realised how much she has changed and sitting in my lounge with her rosettes and trophy still brings a lump to my throat of pride.

So I thought I would share with you our season and the massive highs and lows that went with it

Dec 2012-2yr old

A few days after she arrived from Cumbria where we had brought her unseen. 100 points if anyone can spot a show horse in this picture

1st show -Jan 2013 3yr old

Having only been bitted for just over a week, Indie behaved impeccably. Unfortunately the judge hated the white in her eye and we were practically last in every class :-(

2nd show- March 2013

Where it snowed!!!! believe it or not, this picture is not a black and white effect. This time we had a considerably better day with 1st and 2nd.

3rd show -April 2013

Where she won her 1st sash and I cried!! Sioneds pony had gone lame so borrowed Indie for her child handler class. Having never shown before, Sioned handled her brilliantly and came home with reserve child handler champion!! We also had 1st and 3rd.

4th show was a week later where Sioned again won her child handler class and Indie won her chaps youngstock class.

Next show was Bath and west were we were 2nd with a handler that had never shown her before (I was clipping a horse 2 days before and it landed on my foot rupturing all the ligaments :-( )

5th Show- July 2013

Royal welsh show where we were pulled 1st in a class of 35, then dropped to 2nd ....and I cried!! The judges comment will stay with me for the rest of my life "from the minute she walked into this ring she commanded my attention and wasn't going to let me look at anything else" Up until this show, Indie was always a wall flower with no personality but on that day she strutted into that ring like she owned it and a diva was born!!

6th show was Pembrokeshire county where she was 2nd.

We then had a month off where I backed her and pootled off hacking. Then came SWPA championships

Sept 2013

Where she won...
1st young producers class
1st cob youngstock
reserve cob champion
1st coloured youngstock
coloured champion
light horse champion
SUPREME INHAND CHAMPION 2013
........and I cried!!!

For so many years I have watched supreme champions waltz into that ring and wished I had a horse like that. Not once did I ever dream I would own one!

A few weeks later we headed out for a bit fun and went for a quiet mornings cubbing where she went through rivers, trotted over a small log, galloped with the field and pulled up when the little rider next to us plopped off. The field could not believe she is only 3 and 1st time out whilst she stood like a rock amongst the seasoned hunters. As we finished the day, I collapsed round her neck and hugged her for wait felt like 5 mins. I simply couldn't of asked for more.

I have never been so excited to see how the next 12 months plan out. I was thinking of writing a piece for the upcoming readers issued but I don't know how we would fair up against people who have competed at badminton for the first time or won a national championships :-/

Wow what a lovely story, congratulations on your achievements this year.

Cobhas super movement, and I love seeing that shine on the black patches. I look forward to reading about your next outing.

What a wonderful post :) I love the name Indie and she really is a beautiful horse.
Seriously well done with all you've achieved at a pretty high level too! I can see why you are so proud of her :D

Just :D Cracking little cowpony :)

Such a shame someone couldn't see your potential and lost out on all that company promotion, not that you needed them anyhow:rolleyes:.

I know you work your butt off with your horses and you deserve your success. ps, did you win many of your own rosettes? ;)

thank you, she does definitely shine!! her white bits are starting too now under artificial light.

Abbie I have actually only won back 3.......you know, seeing as I don't actually win any of my rosettes, I just make them and hang them on the wall...(rolls eyes)
