My ancient (he's 16 now) lurcher went for a paddle a couple of weeks ago and I thought I'd share. We all though we were going to lose him last year as he had a small stroke but he's doing ok at the moment. Full of the joys of spring as they say :)

This is about as fast as he goes these days, I don't think he could catch a rabbit anymore. Thank goodness. They don't half scream and he never knew what to do with them once he got hold of them

And finally, no trip to the beach is complete without a stop to the chip shop. ( I know he shouldn't really eat chip shop sausage but he's so old now we figure there isn't much harm in spoiling him from time to time!)

He really is the best dog. I've had him since I was eleven and he was a pup. My previous dog was hit by a car and died in surgery so my mum arranged to adopt Herbs as my Christmas present. But of course the RSPCA don't rehome around Christmas so I had to wait until the middle of January to get him. He's been with us ever since and he is just the nicest, most tolerant person. Even people who are scared of dogs can cope with Duffer :)

I am really quite jealous of that lovely beach :)

It's a Norfolk beach. Best county in the UK. I am biased of course though :D

He's doing well for his age. He's outlived both our working spaniels by a long way! Probably due to the fact he is a lazy so and so and has never worked a day in his life. He's very low mileage (to use the horse phrase) :p

What a beautiful looking old lad:) May you share plenty more lovely walks and chip shop sausages with him long, long into an even riper old age, bless him:)

Couldn't agree more! He looks as if he had a wonderful time at the beach. My lurcher goes completely nuts at the beach, hence she's visits at quiet times with no bodies to knock over!!

How totally lovely, what a beautiful nose he has! He looks like he had a great day out and I'm sure he's earned a bit of spoiling in his twilight years :)
