Where to begin? The boys had a very successful weekend, as did everyone who went up from the yard - Team I took 22 horses this year. :eek3:

The horses headed up on Wednesday to get settled in. There wasn't any jumping on Thursday so they were hacked around the estate so they could have a good look at everything and get used to the busy show ground. Blair was the first proper 'big' show for both of mine and their first time jumping competitively on grass.

Beau was a bit unsettled on Friday when we went round to the stables to help get them ready but Timberland had made himself right at home and could be heard shouting at Dad to hurry up and bring him his dinner from the other end of the stable block. :tongue3:

Onto the good part - the jumping.
Beau jumped Newcomers Friday and Saturday. We had a long wait on the Friday - he didn't jump until after 7pm. In the first round he looked nice and calm and he listened to Martin when he asked him to come back between 2 and 3 - a big improvement on last week's disaster of a round where he set his neck and bogged off. They jumped a nice clear but given that we had a 2.5 hour drive back to Glasgow, we decided to skip the jump-off.
Martin texted me later to say that he'd jumped a double clear - he was outside the placings but he qualified for the Championship today so he was somewhere between 9th and 15th. :smile3:

We didn't go up yesterday but I was told that he jumped another double clear and ended up 2nd. :smile3:

Onto the Championship today. Beau was a lot more settled when we went round to the stables so I was hopeful. We watched the course being built and decided to go for a wander only to come back to the Tummel arena to see Beau halfway through his round. Oopsies :rolleyes3:
Clever boy managed another fab clear to go into the second round.
I walked him off for a bit between rounds and he had a bit of a munch as well as pinching most of the OH's sweeties :redface3: while we waited for Martin to jump his second horse.

There were 12 in the j/o and Martin decided to go first to give him enough time to warm Kenny up for his second round. My heart was in my mouth during Beau's round but he jumped so well. He can really turn when he wants to - not bad for a big, long beastie :biggrin3:
They were knocked out of first place by a fab, fab round but they managed to stay in second although it was close right up until the last round.
I'm so pleased with him - he's been a bit of an idiot the last few weeks, really testing Martin and making silly mistakes. Thankfully he's pulled his socks up and jumped 6 lovely clears over the three days - I couldn't ask for more from him.

Timberland was in the 1.10 open on the Friday and there was a whopping 69 in his class. He can be a cheeky sod sometimes and there were a few 'moments' when he was in the ring :rolleyes3: I think they wibble-wobbled towards the planks but Martin gave him a good kick and he jumped it to end up on a double clear and in second place. :smile3:

Yesterday he was in the 1.15 open and I'm told that he had another double clear and came third so Dad was very happy with that.

Today he was in the 1.10 open final. We had a bit of a wait for his class to start so we went back round to the stables and Dad took him for a walk once he'd had his studs put in.

It was drawn order and Martin was 5th to go in. There was a related distance combination along one of the long sides that seemed to catch a lot of people out - blue-red was 5 forward strides but a lot of people held for six and ended up burying themselves and taking the pole down. I *think* Martin held for 6 (could be 7) but thankfully Timbi is careful and he left it up to go clear.

Martin was jumping in the main arena in between so they were last to go in the second round. They started off really well - Timberland was flying. They took the inside lines between 4-5-6 and then Timberland slammed on the brakes at the second last fence. :cool3: They ended up losing about 15 seconds while Martin regrouped and represented to finish on 4 faults and outside the placings.
There were a few placed with a fence down - 3 clears and 3 on 4 faults.
Apologies for the quality in advance - my camera decided the memory card was full and I had to video it on Dad's phone.

Timberland jumped 5 clears in 6 rounds so we can't complain - the stop was a bit naughty of him but Martin seemed to think that he was feeling the ground.

All in all, it was a good show. The boys jumped 11 clear rounds between them at their first stay-away show on grass and came away with three seconds and a third.

Roll on next year when it's my turn. :biggrin3:
I'm sorry about the size of the photos - no idea how to resize them without using photobucket.

Thanks for reading :smile3:

What a brilliant report - well done! Really enjoyed reading that. I was down yesterday, go there every year, and really enjoyed it as always. Nice to see it not too muddy! So much going on....so little money to spend....so much to buy!

Are you talking about Martin Arnott? If so I used to get lessons from him about 20 years ago!! My Mum and I used to help out at an RDA group near Edinburgh and one of the RDA ponies was a talented jumper. She was a Piebald, I wonder if he remembers! Saw him jumping a few yesterday - was obviously being kept busy.

thanks guys :biggrin3:

Yup, Martin Arnott is the stable
manager/trainer/ride jockey at my yard - I don't know where he finds the energy to jump so many horses... He must have jumped 12 horses both Friday and Saturday and then he had at least 7 in the finals today. :eek3:
He's worked wonders with both of our jumping horses. :smile3:

ETA: I spent so much money. I saw a lovely pikeur show jacket that I spent ages dithering over - of course, when I went to buy it they were out of my size :rolleyes3:

Well done!

We passed Team I base camp, it was HUGE!!!

I did the same over the Blair Joules Polos, harumph :(

Cheers :smile3:
Yup - no idea how the girls were still smiling by the end of yesterday. :tongue3:

All credit to them - they were super organised so that made things really easy when we went to pack everything away. Everyone pitched in - there were three of us bandaging/booting up, two cleaning tack and two packing things into wheelbarrows to take round to the lorry.
Next year could be a disaster. Me, dad, OH, super groom and 3 diva horses (have decided we can't possibly leave the old boy at home)... oh dear :biggrin3:

There were so many nice things - such a shame I really didn't need anything. I actually need to have a clear out and stick a load of stuff on Ebay. That's how much rubbish I've collected since getting the big man last year. :redface3:
