She is staying in her own box (16x11ft) and she now has her foaling bedding down... Not got anything organised really. I started out super organised but it all went down hill. I have managed to put my CCTV camera up though, although it is not on yet. This weekend I am going to buy a foal slip and sort out my foaling bucket.
I hope she will go full term, but a lot of things are pointing to her coming a bit early... her bag is much more swollen now in the mornings, and there is some clear liquid coming out (only a small amount and it seems to be forming crystals on the end of her teats) and her vulva (is that the right name) has become very loose over the past 2 days...
Nothing's guaranteed with foaling signs, but I always reckon that when the crease at the back of the udder when viewed from behind fills out & stays filled (even after turnout) they're not too far away.
How exciting . I have my daughter's mare with me until March when she goes back home - EDD early May. She is large but nothing like as large as your mare but obviously she is not as far on. Maybe it makes a difference that your mare has had a foal before.....perhaps she loses her figure earlier
She's looking good hun, but I agree with Zebs - dinna fash yourself too much just yet - she hasn't enough milk to feed a baby and they RARELY foal without a good bag! has she had babies before - her teats look like they've been suckled!
she looks great - I cant wait for the birth let alone you!
Definately got a long way to go with her bag - i thought Jazz had a huge one but amazingly it got even bigger/harder a couple of days before!
The milk will flow without any problems too when she's walking about
Thanks... yes, I think she has had one before when she was 3 before being imported to the UK from Ireland. Either that or she just has very droopy boobies!!!
She seems a lot more settled now, still a little fed up but much happier.
I hope she waits until her due date, because booked some time off work for around that time!
