Just so everyone is sufficiently jealous....
And now that is out of the way....
My pony, Poppy, who I was supposed to ride for a few weeks to show her off to potential buyers about 18 months ago (oops), has stepped up to 95 cm eventing with her usual enthusiasm (for jumping). On paper, the results are pretty bad (score in the 100s and an elimination...) but she is giving me a great feel and we are solving problems as they come up. Her dressage is somewhat uh bad. She schools well but then gets to the event, sees the XC flagged, and that is....that.
I've tried switching up bits/nosebands etc. With a flash on, we get pinged for tension (not helped by her excruciatingly short neck). Without a flash, we got....
(The flash has subsequently gone back on.)
The resting bitch face in the dressage arena
I think she likes the jumping a bit better....
(I have permission to share this)
Fready, my erratic and yet incredibly lazy TB, has had a fairly light winter of occasional hacks and schooling. He reacts badly to the spring grass and is locked in a dry lot at the moment. He has reverted back to the lovely horse I bought 4 years ago and I am loving it.
And of course, everyone's favourite mischief maker. At 23, with Cushings, Tally is still a little furry ******** most of the time. He doesn't do much schooling these days as he's a bit stiff so his life is filled with the fun things: jumping, hacking, and trying to buck me off.
He occasionally gets hauled out to some show jumping which he thought was awesome (especially the lap of honour where he got a good reaction from the crowd after putting in a spectacular display)
He also got dragged out for an "obstacle day" where he delighted everyone by trying to eat all the obstacles, taking on the stairs like a 4* eventer (and nyooming his way across the paddock after bucking), and generally playing to his audience.
He occasionally gets taken XC which is the highlight of his existence (aside from food)
So that is my lot! Eventing is largely over here for the season as the ground is too hard - the PC eventing season runs over the winter. Poppy and I have a season of show jumping planned while Fready has some dressage and Tally another obstacle day, so very very busy. I am also writing up my PhD at this point....!
