I have 2 horses one is mine and the other is on loan but I think from what I have been reading that pig oil and sulpher could be what I need for both.
first horse...gets itchy all over. He seems to go through phases of rubbing different bits of him. the history is that he was neglected, basically abandond in a field, until he was rescued last year (but not by me). i understand that he had quite bad rain scald and was generally in a poor condition. When i got him earlier this year his skin was very flakey. He still has big flakey bits of skin on his tail. He is currently going through an itching his face period so he has bald patches and also his ears are looking very flakey. Now I know it could be sweetitch but I am concerned that he has dry skin which is making him itchy and am fed-up of all the chemical treatments for sweet itch which are posibly exasperating the situation so am wondering if this could be a natural way of mosituring him especially if it could all be related to his previous history of sweetitch.
2nd horse....is a big heavy weight cob who regulaly stamps his feet. He doesn't have feathers as he is clipped out all year and regularly gets his feathers treated with dermoline. Apparently it is not lice or anything he just gets itchy legs, he doesn't have mud fever but does get sccabby bits from over excessive scratching. Now I have seen various things which apparently help alleviate this but as with all things horse related they cost a fortune so am wondering if pig oil and sulpher could be a better route to try.
keeping my fingers croseed this is the miracle I have been searching for....well I can only hope
