First year of using PO & Sulpher has has been wonderful all year keeping my boys legs mudfever free while on our wet clay soil!

After the snow had melted i decided to but his next batch on his legs in the stable ready for him to be turned out in the morning... All four legs have gone like tree trunks, pink hot and puffy, he is not lame but seems very uncomfortable.

I Have been using it since October with no problems but usually put it on in the morning before he goes out (every 2 weeks) is it because i put it on the night before?

We have washed his legs in Fairy liquid to try and get the oil off but thinking maybe i should put some soothing cream on them like Sudocreme?

Any ideas?????

I am NOT a guru- but I think that it is possible your horse has cellulitis and you should contact your vet incase antibiotics are needed. You could start by describing the legs on the phone to the vet and see what he says.

First off dont use the Fairy it will dry him out completly and personally I only do skanky tails with washing up liquid not the body or legs.

Sounds like either a)mites b)cellulitius c)allergic reaction to something

Either way I would be callling the vet I am afraid.

I have never heard of a reaction like that with PO and Sulphur through the people I know who use it.

I wonder if he has mites that had caused irritation and the PO and sulphur has irritated further??

Hope he gets better soon.

Just keep running with water + hibiscrub it will come out eventually and might get rid of what caused the reactions in the first place.

Next time try a test area before re applying it.
