Just a quick one really with winter fast approaching (don't shoot me!!), where do you guys get yours from? Cheapest I've found is £25 for 5 litres oil and sulphur, but can anyone better that?

Thanks :)

Mole Valley farmers in Cullompton are cheaper. You have to buy the pig oil and sulphur separately and mix it yourself. Can't remember the price but it is cheaper.

The cheapest I can find is £25 also. How long would 5 litres last you?

I think it would last me about a couple of months in winter, longer now as doesn't need applying as much.

Shysmum told me she uses about 500ml per application and does this once a month in summer, more so in winter. 100ml per leg, 50ml mane & tail

Sussexcobs is where I've found it :)

I'm going to have to buy some soon for mine but where I live its going to have to be by mail order which does push the price up.

Ooooh, thanks for the info on where to get it, I've been looking for ages! What measure of pig oil to what measure of sulphur do you need to mix? How exactly do you go about applying it? I haven't seen any so not sure if it's runny or sticky or what! Do you work it into the hair or just get a handful and run it through the feathers?

Sorry for the questions and slight hijack, I just want to know what I'm in for before i get some :)

No worries, I'll forward you the PM shysmum sent me on how she applies it. Sussexcobs mix it for you so you don't have to worry about amounts, most places I've found will do it for you if you want (I like this option :D)

I have got some to sell that I am putting on ebay, I bought a massive tin of it, but the horse has too sensitive legs to use it!

Hi. I can't remember the measure that you have to mix it. I use a hoof oil brush to apply it once a week in the winter to their feathers, it's quite runny.

any advice needed pm me - Theresa-F has an excellent pm that she sent me, and that got me started using it.

In winter I apply once a week/fortnight . I've been using it for many months and am still on my second lot. Worth it's weight in gold, great for growing manes and tails too :D

I second that about Theresa_F its a great email

I brought a 5ltr tin and a huge tub of sulphur for under 20.00 last winter from Scats Country Stores, found this much cheaper b the time you include p&p from internet.

Good Luck with the hunt

I got mine off ebay ready mixed, cant remeber how much, I use a sponge to apply it and rub in and around with a rubber grooming mitt, gives a lovely shine to his coat.
