Thanks to tips from people on here, I've treated my cob's flexural dermatitis very successfully with PO&S.

I've got nasty skin problems round MY ankles at present - to do with varicose veins and poor circulation I think (am off to the doc next week) - but meanwhile wondered if anybody has used PO&S on themselves. My vet commented that sulphur has always been a very well known treatment for skin problems. However I don't want to end up in more of a mess than I'm in already.

Any comments gratefully received.

As I understand it, the Sulphur kills things, like garden pests and mites on horses, the pig oil is just a carrier, and a barrier/moisturiser. Gardeners use sulphur to kill bugs in its powder form.

So I wouldn't think it would help your condition at all. I would certainly ask the doctor first.

since using p & s i have not suffered with chapped hands.i used to get very very painful splits that took ages to heal.

A friend of mine with splits/chaps/cuts all over her hands borrowed some of mine, slathered it on, cotton gloves on top, cured. I had no idea it was carciogenic!

Thank you everyone for your very helpful replies - both for and against. I don't know what I'd do without this forum!

I didn't know about it being carcinogenic, so thanks for the warning. On the plus side, like the chapped hands respondents, I have been applying PO&S to my mare'g legs with my bare hands (though washing them well after) as I find I can work it in better than with a brush or rubber gloves - and not waste so much. My hands have never been so elegant......

Not sure what cellulitis is, but I'll ask the doctor. And thank you all again.

It is my understanding that sulphur cools the skin, I have ordered my dog some tablets for her skin condition, still havent arrived yet! but I have heard great things about them
