Our hairy cob has a pig oil applied about once a week with sulpher powder rubbed in too (it sticks to the oil). More oil can be applied inbetween, I use a spray bottle. The oil will repell most mud and keeps skin and feathers in good condition. As to how long to make a difference depends on what condtion your horses legs are in to start with?
Thanks, will try the spray bottle. They arent in bad condition, got it as more of a preventative for winter really, plus he moulted some of his feather hair this summer so hoping it will help keep them nice and thick for winter
Have sent you a long and detailed PM about P&S. Hope you find it helpful.
One thing though it that feather never looks as good in summer as it does in winter as it does moult out. You can use megatek to encourage growth and keep them nice in summer, Chancer's feather is at least a third more in winter - I just managed to get the BSPA winter champs in with him having really good hair this year. His feather is now looking great again as he has his winter coat.
