Following on from my other post about my hat, I'm getting my new one tomorrow so today after riding I threw my hat away.
We decided to have a bit of fun with it first and tried to wreck it by smashing it onto the concrete and into the wall

Well it looked fine and didn't sound like it was cracked at all but we then cut off the cover to look underneath and it was a bit cracked but only on the surface!

They must be really good hats, we were throwing it at full force onto the floor and I reckon if someone fell off onto concrete wearing that they would be fine. The inside of the hat was not damaged at all.

I put it in the bin but I might go and rescue it later and take some pics

Thats interesting! many years ago i landed smack on my head and my hat too looked ok, but took off the silk and it was cracked straight down the middle!

I have always been suprised they get such bad safety ratings.. I put my head through a wooden school wall in one with no damage to my head and also landed head first on the concrete in one and was fine. Fell off in my Charles Owen and knocked myself out.

i had a jte n i didnt have a particularly bad fall and that had a really bad crack through it

Maybe thats why they're so expensive! I can't believe how little it was damaged seeing as we were smashing on the concrete yard as hard as we could - amazing!

My friend ran over my Charles Owen Ultralite with her lorry, it was smashed to bits!

Aghh, you smashed a GPA?! You could have sold it on Ebay (or did you fall off in it?). I read somewhere that GPA's have the lowest crush rating so not very good... I think thats why there's a general thought that GPA's are unsafe!

It was horrible, really old and smells disgusting, also found a maggot in it the other day.
