I have known Travelling people for most of my life and indeed have attended school with them, some times I feel they get bad press some times BAD and this is correct as I do not believe they treat them as animals with dignity and respect, But I have had the opportunity to meet individuals in this community who do care and know more than you would ever understand about the personality of a horse..... they seem to know a horse's mood and what they are capable or not......

there are good and bad in ALL communities..

i know of a few so called "pikies/travellers" who sell CRACKING ponies

it is a TOTALLY different way of living with these folk...ponies/horses are to them INCOME....they dont have 9-5s like the rest of joe public.....

What an odd post

I have known a lot of travelling people, some good, some bad. But there is a difference between a traditional gypsy, a traveller and indeed a PIKEY..

Not sure i understand the reason behind this particular post i have to say

About 40 caravans full were parked about 1/4 of a mile from my house, they've just moved on and yesterday I went past where they'd been camped, and there was what looked like about 5 tons of rubbish left everywhere by them, none of it in bin bags.

I wouldn't mind, but their campsite was right next door to the town rubbish dump!

I know an individual very locally who is a lovely traveller and I know he would be heartbroken and very very angry about what has happened. I feel pretty sure the 'community' you speak of may have their own way of dealing with JG if this is what the post is relating too......

i agree with the above, but would like to point out the other income that pikeys have, no, they don't do a 9 - 5 they do a 1am - 4am stealing whatever they can get their scabby mits on - stuff like trailers, tack, rugs quads etc that normal hardworking HONEST people work fecking hard for

Have to say, I have no time for them. as they have recently done one of there 1am jobs on our yard, twice in one year, last time I lost 4 saddles and this time, they let my horse out of his stable and when challenged sped off nearly taking his legs out.......

I then had to go up to the yard and try to catch him as no one could handle him as he was so worried

I also went to school with some. Some were great, if lacking in brain cells, but were sound. But they were settled. What I mean by a "Pikey" is a thief, someone who doesnt work (even if it is laying tarmac!) but just steals and intimidates.

We are not talking about horsemen here, travellers who are proud of their horses, but the scum that pretends to be of the same ilk. Lets hope the real horselovers of the "pikey" world, and I can believe there are some, see fit to take the law into their own hands.

Of course this is as long as there is a heaven and a hell which depending on your beliefs may or may not exist, I think to be on the safe side and uphold the human rights of atheists and non beleivers we should string the bastard up by his bollocks and feed him his own shite and piss as food for say a reasonable amount of time, lets say, mmmmmm 10 years just to be on the safe side in case there isn't a hell, if there is a hell maybe satan could give him time off in lou, or maybe not

There IS good and bad in all people in all walks of life. I don't like all this PC stuff about ' racism' , people wouldn't like anyone who steal, thieve, abuse etc etc. Its not about a particular group of people its about behaviour and I for one don't like this sort of behaviour in anybody whether they are black, brown, pikey or white.

I have to say that the term "pikies" would not be allowed in proper American society...it would have the same sound as using the "n" word. I was a bit shocked when I first got over here how many racist words were considered okay in polite society.
However, since being here, and watching these "pikies" whip very young horses down very bendy roads with no care about road founder, no care about animal welfare what so ever, it is about time that "proper" society stopped allowing these people to live like dirt off the backs of horses lives, and off the backs of hard working Brits.
I do not understand how they manage to do what they do...this is not the Gypsy with the coloured cob I dreamed of seeing in England...not at all...
