... has anyone done Pilates specifically for riding??? Does it help??

As you know, most people are "one-sided" and Pilates is meant to help balance out the body.

I'm probably not much help here, but I have been to 2 pilates sessions yet (I decided to go to improve my riding) - cant say I've noticed an improvement yet but I will get back to you when I do!

I'm sure it will help in some way, the 2 sessions I've been to have been very difficult and really focus on your core - it stregnthens many areas of your body and encourages you to hold yourself correctly. A stronger core is definitely a good thing for riding as your core is what keeps you straight and will keep you in the right seat.

Riders have to be just as fit as their horses, so any exercise, especially pilates, is a good thing. I'll keep you posted with how I get on!

I've heard excellent reports on Pilates for core strength. I would love to give it a go myself but unfortunately don't have any local classes that I can get to.

Yes, if you stick at it you will reap the benefits. Within 6 weeks, doing one or two classes a week and a practice session on your own you will really feel the difference.

Where i keep my horse, they actually ran a pilates course for 8 weeks. 45 Mins on a bouncy ball and 45 mins ridden. And bareback!! Can honestly say i improved massively. And horse goes nicer too :-)
