I have been doing Pilates for 2 weeks and my flat instructor asked me last night what I had done to my position as I was taller, straighter and my legs were longer and more effective.

If 2 weeks of Pilates gets that improvement, I should be up to Grand Prix by Easter

Pilates is great, isn't it? The best difference I found was that I had more strength up my front line (stomach muscles), whereas previously I tended to collapse through the stomach.

I thoroughly endorse Pilates for any riders. Unfortunately I have had to give it up for the foreseeable, as I can't find a local class round here that runs at a time that I can actually make it on a regular basis, due to work and horse commitments.

Faro - keep doing the exercises at home - that's what i do, only went to the class for 8 1 hr sessions over 10 weeks weeks

Just come back from my 3rd class and my pilates instructor was delighted that the change was so evident so quickly. All I was doing was "having my belt on the 3rd hole" and "lifting the back of my head with the piece of string".
