What do you guys do with foals with pink noses in the sunshine? Believe it or not, this is pretty much a first for me! When she was born she only had a pink patch on her lower lip, however, as her coat is changing on her face, the hair is coming out round the muzzle /nose- as you would expect - but this is leaving quite pink nose exposed to the sun's rays. Sun block will just come off when she nurses - any ideas?

LMAO!!! Yeah, yeah clever clogs!! After we were talking earlier, I figured that ANYTHING I put on will just rub off as she nurses, hence this post. I suppose I was wondering if anyone had seen any UV nose nets in foal size around....

No, can't say that I have but won't that make nursing uncomfortable for her as they tend to be a bit scratchy?

Oh blummin eck! Yes probably and B probably wouldn't appreciate it - GAHHHH!

I wouldn't personally put any of the fly masks/nose nets on them so young as they are soooo prone to getting into trouble.
We use sudocreme - coz it's thicker and oil based it doesn't rub off nearly as easily andsub block and is a moisturiser as well so will be good for her

As you can see, she doesn't have a classical pink nose - the lower bit is actually her lower lip. I'm about to go and bring them in for the rest of the afternoon.

Bringing in is definaely the best option in this heat!

We've got the yearling and 3 yr old in for a snooze in the shade today!

Her bottom lip wouldn't bother me so much...I would be putting it onto her little pink triangle on her nose really as that is such a sensitive area when they nurse, etc.

She really is adorable by the way!

I love her spotty legs!

I love her spotty legs! I said exactly that about her bottom lip when she was born. I honestly cannot believe that I've not had this problem with foals and pink noses before, considering all the foals I've worked with. As you can see it's not burnt yet, but I don't want it to. I will try her with some sudocrem. Just hope she doesn't react to it - my dog and I do.....

my coloured boy has similar pink nose and burns at drop of hat and sudocrem is only think that stops it. Once it does burn it is a pain to clear up!!!

She really is a beautiful little girly.....now if my coloured girl decides to pop out a little girl similar to her I will be very happy!

If the sunblock is rubbed in well it may be enough to protect her, the one for babies is best, it sort of disappears into their skin completely and can't have any nasties in it either.
I have a retired arab here who is photosensitive on his blaze and I tried everything for him, wearing a nosenet and headcollar is not really suitable because of all the tree branches which is why I often use Boots own baby suncream.
I can't remember if it's blue or white, though, but at least if the nose turned white again you would know to apply more!
