Definitely worth a shot. Put my gelding on it 2 weeks ago due to suspected digestive problems. I am astounded by the change. I have had this horse for 7 years, and I have never seen him so relaxed & chilled. Maybe a co-incidence, but I don't think so.
Pink Powder is fantastic. I have had a stressy mare who suffered from a runny bum frequently for the 7 years I have owned her...until I tried Pink Powder!!! Its brilliant!
Like Natalie_H said, my mare is also chilled and very laid back. Farrier can not get over the change. Shoeing her used to be a nightmare!
Anyone had any negative effects from pink powder? My new mare is having trouble settling down to her new diet (ad-lib hay, hi-fi and high fibre cubes) so put her on pink powder. Her bottom promptly exploded!!
Sorry to shout. But when I got my mare 5 years ago she had a totally sensitive gut + exploding bottom which covered her back legs and bottom with poo
Not good. Had the vet to her several times who said it was basically a grass intolerance, and he could give her codiene but as she'd have to be on it a long time no one is sure what the long term effects were, so I decided to try and find a safer option through diet.
Tried Pink Powder, no difference.
Acti Prem pellets - 50% improvement.
Feel Good 30 Premium Digestion- 60% improvement.
Baileys Digest Plus - 70% improvement.
Then one week, my supplier didn't have the digest plus so took a tub of Biotal Equine Gold - wow, I mean totally wow.. Bonnie is 100% better when theres no spring grass and 90% better on Spring grass. On spring grass her poo is a little wetter, but is still "formed" not the pats she once produced. Can totally recommend it, its safe to feed all year round too and took only a few days before I noticed a difference (after the initial 10 day slow introduction period, I am SUPER safe when introducing anything new to my mares feed regime) The other thing is Speedi Beet. Half a cup dry measure soaked in each meal, even in Spring, it helps with the acidity levels in the gut, keeping it steadier. I would recommend giving it a try.
The thing is don't be afraid to change. If it's not working for your horse, then try something else. Not that I am changing now as Bonnie looks great on it. Good Luck
My YO swears by natural yoghurt for a sloppy bottom, I haven't tried it myself as the new boy improved immensely when I took him off the haylage, but may be worth a go?!
