My colt has had a poorly tummy last couple of days and doesn't seem right in himself. Very quiet and not his cheeky little self. I've fed him a little bit of bran to try and clear it up but there's no change at all so I don't think it's the right thing to do. I was thinking of trying him on some pink powder to see if that helps him out. If he's no better in a couple of days then I'll obviously be calling the vet. Any advice appreciated. Oh and I've also found ragwort in his field and realized that the field is VERY bare. He's off the grass now and will be for a while.

Pink powder is great but they can deteriorate quite quickly from a tum upset so if I was you I would at least phone the vet to run it past them.

Can't advise you as to whether it will help your lad or not but it made a big difference to my old boy. He had a couple of episodes with his tum, not colic but just not right. I put him on pink powder and, fingers crossed, he has not had any problems since. So it gets my vote. Doesn't cost the earth so worth a try.

Possibly try Global Herbs Diareeze.
It stinks like nothing on earth, have used it with good results on one of mine.
You have to add it gradually (or do like i did and give it in a jam sandwich!) unless neddy likes the smell of ginger.
But if no improvement in 48 hrs or any sign of colic (obviously!) get the vet out.
And remember with the squits they will lose most of the "good" bacteria in the gut, so pink powder really is a must, or a pre/pro biotic.

Please call the vet, they are the best ones to advise, and it can work out chaeper in the long run rather than trying this and that, especially if you end up calling the vet out later if things get worse.

Absoltely agree with this ^^^^^
I use Diareze by Global herbs and it is amazing. It has worked within 24 hours on several animals, and at a fraction of the full dose (to introduce slowly) Highly recommend it.

Call the vet especially if ragwort poisoning may be suspected, youll be very upset if it is something serious, a horse can deteriorate so quickly if its dehydrated. Pink powders great, NAF also do Biotics, which is a 10 day intensive course of pre and probiotics, whic may be better for your situation. Be carefull with some other brands i have found they have caused more trouble than not, if the horse dosnt want to eat something supplement wise, its normally for a reason so dont disguse it in the feed!
