Pink spots on his muzzle

Our 7yo chestnut pony is developing ever growing pink patches on his muzzle. They started off as tiny dots but seem to be spreading. I think he has vitiligo/leucoderma. They are (so far) on one side only. Fed up as he's a handsome boy. Anyone had this? I don't recall any injury as such to his muzzle but he will have been messing in the hedge.

However, he has a little rub further up from his grazing muzzle which I took stopped using about two weeks ago.

Any pictures? Sounds like an allergy to something growing this time of year.

Yes, I'll post some later - good idea! I hope you are right, except the skin has no change in feel at all........

I believe that copper deficiency can cause pink spots to appear - but also chestnut horses can develop very innocent white/pink spots (Toytown, Zara Phillips' horse is an ideal example)

My horse Clancy has this also. I assumed it was just part of her Protein Losing Enteropathy as her skin has had some rashes and dry/irritated areas. Good luck with it! Please post some pictures! Thanks!!

Might sound daft, but could it be sunburn? If he has had a grazing muzzle on until now his muzzle would have been protected from the sun. It has been pretty hot and sunny recently.

Ive got the same this year with mine. I have no idea what it is but they do seem to be disappearing again.

Dan has Vitiligo which is entirely harmless. I tried copper and vit B deficiency treatments I think they were with no change so vet said leave them. some come and go but he has a few large splodges that stay. He has also developed them in his ears this year. Think they make him look rather distinguised

i suffer from vitiligo! and it looks very similar, i shoudnt worry about it, it may go of its own accord.
