Can anyone give me some suggestions??

My Id has been wormed with the rest of the yard. He still has pinworm and i know cause i have seen them in his manure and he has the sticky substance round his anus!

I did him again a few weeks after the first dose and was advised to rub some of the wormer around his anus to get the ones that come out and lay the eggs, He still has them aarrgghhhhh!!!

I will have to get some professional advise but has anyone had this prob with worms before?, its driving me mad!

You can try mixing ivermectin (we use the cattle version - not licensed mind) with propylene glycol and paint this on the tail and hindquarters, in conjunction with oral ivermectin. Probably also a good idea to powerwash the walls of the stable, and anywhere used as a scratching post, in case there are eggs stuck there and this is causing reinfection.

My friend is having a nightmare with her old boy too (he is 31!!!), who I ride, as the pinworm will not go, whatever she does, although I am sure Ivermectin is not the right course of action, for this stubborn little blighter ..... so I can sympathise with you

She has followed all the Vet's advise and has wormed him to the hilt and painted Ivermectin on his bottom now for months and he is still suffering ... he has demolished a stable ..... they can thrive with Pinworm, but get sooooooooooo itchy.

I hope we can both find the answer, as it is horrid to see a normal horse eyeing up a brick wall to try and demolish

Hi Eaglestone,

They are stubborn little buggers arent they!!

The starange thing is that mine doesnt rub his hind quarters at all and never has done, so they dont bother him. think i will try and get a sample and send it to the vet and see what they say!

Will let you know if they have any bright ideas!
