I help a small charity that rescues horses, ponies and donkeys and hardly anyone has heard of it! It is the Pit Pony Sanctuary at Pontypridd. They started out rescuing pit ponies from the mines and since MOSTLY there are now not pit ponies they continue to help needy horses/ponies from any walk of life. I send £5 per month direct debit and in return you get a newsletter and if reading it doesnt make you feel your £5 was worth it then you need a warmer heart! If you have five minutes, go on line to www.pitponies.co.uk and have a look or sign up as a sponsor or donor. This organisation does wonderful work and recently offered homes to some of the Spindles Farm horses. They are a really small organisation so dont get the attention of Redwings and alike. They are still fighting today to make pit ponies illegal. Did you know that a pit could still use ponies and it is LEGAL? In this day and age, putting little horses and ponies down in the dark, scarey mines would be TOTALLY LEGAL. Im not usually a "do gooder" but this is one case that needs attention so that no horses or ponies in the future are put to work underground. So, please log on to their website. I am not connected to the organisation (except for being a supporter) so have nothing to gain from this except to raise awareness. Thankyou.
