hi, i have just moved to Huddersfield with two horses and I am looking for places to jump them around sj courses?? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Erm none that I think of in Huddersfield sadly! Apart from you can hire Woodnook arena in Honley, but its quite small so providing you either have large horses than can turn on a sixpence or small horses you'll be fine!
XC Schooling available at Hopton Horse Centre near Mirfield - next open weekend is 25/26 June. I think the SJ paddock is available to use then too (I should really know as my horse is kept there
)Port Royal is probably your best bet for SJ about 1 1/2 drive away. Richmond EC in north Yorkshire but that's closer to 2 hours away.

Does Westfield Park have anything? I remember taking a horse there to jump when I was at Uni in Leeds, and it was certainly towards Huddersfield....

Westfield Park Indoor is now a sports academy including football pitches. The outdoor is still an arena but they have no shows planned, although you can still hire
There is Epworth Equestrian nr Doncaster (SJ, XC courses to hire and comps)
There's Parklands Arena, Worksop (SJ course to hire and occassional comps, on surfaces)
Milton Equestrian, Worksop (SJ course, and comps, on surfaces)
Moorhouse Equestrian Centre
Woodnook (+ other suggestions see above)
Sykehouse
(give them all a google they all have websites)
They are all I can think of for now.

Never been but there's also ledston(or ledstone) wakefield way on. I've been most of those above & Sykehouse & Milton are the best arenas, epworth is fab if you want to xc school aswell xx

Ah forgot about Ledston (Castleford) which is good for dressage, but haven't heard such good things about it for SJ. Although probably the closest to Hudds than most of the other recommendations.
Sykehouse (Doncaster) is brilliant - lovely arenas, decent warm ups and a fab (licensed
) cafe!Haven't heard of Milton, must google it myself now!

Try Bromley Farm. They do jumping and not far from huddersfield. Their next unaffiliated is on 30th June - see link

www.turburyequisport.co.uk is just outside Huddersfield, and does unaffiliated SJ and XC and clinics.
Huddersfield is not that far away from the Cheshire venues either - perhaps an hour and a half to Somerford Park, which has unrivaled facilities in the NW really - farm ride, XC schooling field and several SJ arenas to hire. Worth a trip once or twice a year...
