We've been having some living rearrangements and are now in a position where it *might* be possible to get a little flat by the sea (due to going for a v small one near work rather than a house further out).

Ideally we'd like to be somewhere that is a reasonably quick train journey from London so elderly relatives and those with kids etc can visit.... And, just for us, somewhere there are horses :-) A good RS or possibly private horses to share, like we do at home. And /ideally/ some beach riding.

We're thinking of Essex or Kent probably but open to suggestions... Broadstairs seems to have lovely beaches with hoof prints but I didn't see any stables. Does anyone know the area or have other recommendations?

Mersea is a lovely little place in Essex, I take my dogs to the beach in East Mersea for a swim sometimes. Its a quiet little place, but very horsey. There is a yard full of horses right next to the beach and every summer there is the East Mersea unafilliated show jumping shows. Lots of yards scattered around the place and some beautiful views.

Ooh, yes, Camber is lovely. I've never been to Mersea... like the idea of it being an 'island' though :-)

I think we could have a really nice summer visiting possible places!

Some have restrictions on what time and season you can ride on the beach - make sure you check that out. I believe some don't allow horses from April until the end of September, and in some you have to ride before a certain time.
