Just after a bit.of advice about purchasing a new bridle.

I have an I'D currently in a plain cavesson bridle which I need to replace as a, it's nearing the end it's usable life and b, it's the wrong colour.

What suits an ID head? Wide, flat nosebands, or raised, padded nosebands?

I'm after doing.some dressage and ode's with him, so something suitable for these disciplines.

Advice welcome

I suspect wide and flat are most likely to suit but every ID is different. do you have any pictures you could share?

I like fylde saddlery for bridles; tailor made, good quality and great price.

I am a dinosaur when it comes to tack, for me a working ID needs a plain workmanlike bridle. They have handsome heads, some mares will be pretty but not in a pony like way so for me, bling, padding etc is out. Flyde makes proper bridles, but you can find some 'old fashioned' tack on ebay.

If you are looking for a hunter bridle I’ve got a barely used Jeffries one I need to pop on eBay when I get my backside in gear. Lovely quality

I've been looking at the Mark Todd padded cavesson bridle, which has a thicker nose and brow band and which I think may suit.

Would a flat hunter style bridle be suitable for dressage, hunter trials, low level xc/eventing?

I quite like bling, padding etc in general but I still prefer the wide hunter noseband and plain flat browband on my IDx /maybe full ID. She has big head with a Roman nose and the workmanlike bridle is just right.
