My horse had a plait in her tail when I brought her in this evening. She was in last night and it wasn't there this morning so it has been done during the day. We are stabled in Bearsted (Maidstone) Kent. She was living out all the time up until Wednesday night, but now I am afraid to put her out at all! She is a 15.2 bay thoroughbred mare. She is out with 4 other mares, all of which are quite nice horse, but none of these had a plait. Does this mean my horse has been marked for theft? What should I do about it? Any advice welcome.

Sorry but you'll get lots if jokey replies to this question. It's asked a lot here and there are no known cases of horses being stolen after being plaited. :)

So don't worry. It's the wind or someone messing about.

Thank you Fiona, I have had some jokey ones and some very patronising and rude ones, all I was after was a bit of advice. Thanks for yours though :)

Chop her tail off ?

It is a rather simple solution dear...to add to bonny's idea of chopping tail off...put the tail out/horse in..or if you wish....horse out/tail in.......endless variety..plus confuses any would be thiefs no end.....do let us know how you get on....theres a dear..
