I have heard that if you leave plaits in for too long the hair can fall out? I have a dilema - dressage comp on Sunday (need to be plaited up) and then hunting on Monday (want him smart) can I unravel them but leave the plaits in?
Do NOT want a hogged TB lol to take hunting!!!

I'm sure it won't hurt occassionally.

It really depends on the horse though whether you will get away with this. Mine would rub his mane either in the mud if in the field or all through his haynet if in the stable, which meant it cost me extra time getting the hay bits out of the plaits and therefore not save any time at all !!

The time spent pulling shavings out of his mane will be longer than replaiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I promise you!!!!

Or do you have a full hood that you could put on him??

It won't make the mane fall out unless he rubs them. And if the plaits are half decent, then it will not be that comfortable for him anyway. It only takes half an hour to plait, so why not make 100% sure he doesn't rub them out and let him be more comfortable.

It could make it fall out if you put them in too tight (i mean really tight) or if he started to rub them but I wouldnt think it would happen overnight. Personally I would be tempted to leave them in and put a full lycra hood on if you dont have time to do them fresh on monday.

Could stick a pair of tights round his neck? (after I remember to cut the foot out otherwise he won't be able to eat - !!!) Then could turn up to the hunt looking like a bank robber - yeah !!

Right that's 7 take out votes and 1 leave in (not including lazy me) so out they will come!!!

ALSO - his mane is quite long (happy hacker turned dare devil for the week-end!!) how short does it have to be to do decent plaits??

All this fuss over a hair do!!
