Plaiting for BD...

[ QUOTE ]
I have never done dressage and not plaited but then i think that my mum would refuse point blank to so much as start the engine if i hadnt plaited.

exactly the same for me.
also i think that it shows you have made an effort.

I personally would never do a test without plaiting because I was once told it was disrespectful to the judge if you didn't.

No plaits wont gain you extra marks, but presentation is very important. It doesn't matter what level you compete at, you should always look your best.

Spend a tenner on a set of 'Easyplaits' for when it's horizontal rain/you're late/fancied a bit longer in bed. No one will notice the difference especially not the judge if the weather is rubbish but you definitley will when it takes you ten minutes tops to shove them in!

Ooo... what are they?

I am still not hopeful of getting there tomorrow so quite glad I didn't spend the time plaiting tonight

It is hailing very heavily here and the temp has dropped so it looks as though it is going to freeze.

I am looking through my tests just in case... but not risking taking her if weather is poo

I just got back from the stables becki!

I put 14 in with bands and it took me 20mins as I timed it LOL.
Maybe it just feels like it takes an hour, although normally I do sew them in.
Just couldn't be bothered tonight as it has just started snowing and probably won't even be going!

Hope you make it and have fun xx

Normally I sew them, because then I have the choice of doing them the night before as they seem to stay in, unlike rubber bands!
I always plait, guess it's just out of habit

Why don't you buy a whole packet of plaiting needles, thread up however many you think you'll need plus a couple of spares the night before & thread them in a horizontal row up an old sock? Then you can roll the sock up and it will stay nice & tidy. Saves loads of time in the morning.

I never plait as it goes against my native principles

(and he looks ridiculous plaited!) and often get comments about how well we are turned out. Probably because they can't find anything nice to say about the test mind you!

A flippin Godsend that's what! Made by the same peeps who make Equerry brushes. Look naf on the packaging but have just found some on the sheepgate website, wouldn't recommend pink ones though

I've plaited most of the time, but there have been occasions when I've not bothered.... agree with the majority here, as long as the combinaton look smart its ok.... cos we dont get marks for turnout in dressage!
